European Stroke Organisation (ESO) and the European Federation of NeuroRehabilitation Societies (EFNR) have recently signed a memorandum of understanding covering four main domains: education, research, medical practice, and advocacy, with a special focus on Stroke Action Plan for Europe (SAP-E)

In the frame of the memorandum of understanding and SAP-E this Course Series with a first edition to take place in Tashkent, June 22-23 and coordinated by Prof. Dr. Dafin Muresanu, EFNR President and Dr. Francesca Pezzella, Stroke Action Plan for Europe Co-Chair, highlights their deep commitment to the issue at hand and, moreover, its endorsement by ESO.

The course aims to expose attendees to a variety of fundamental and complex topics concerning dysphagia, beginning with its importance in medical and healthcare practices. A thorough exploration of normal and disordered swallowing will set the foundation for understanding the complexities involved in dysphagia. Despite the huge variety for underlying diseases, the course will focus, but not only, on post stroke dysphagia.

The “Identification of Swallowing Disorders” segment will allow participants to discern the subtle yet significant signs and symptoms that could indicate a swallowing disorder. This will segue into a detailed discussion on the journey “From Diagnosis to Treatment,” elucidating the processes involved in formulating a strategic, individualized treatment plan.

The section titled “Specific Aspects” will delve into the unique characteristics and considerations associated with dysphagia and tracheostomized patients, enriching participants’ understanding of the nuances of this condition.

Finally, the course will focus on a “Hands-On Implementation Plan” session. This highly interactive, practical segment will empower attendees to apply the knowledge and techniques learned throughout the course, providing an opportunity to consolidate learning and enhance skill acquisition.
