Dr. Slikker together with Dr. Bruce Trembly initiated the International Conference on Neuroprotective Agents (ICNA) in 1991, with the first meeting being held in Maine. Since then, the scientific event is organized every two years at various locations.
Dr. William Slikker retired as head of the National Center for Toxicology Research at the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2022.
In the course of the interview, Dr. Slikker provided valuable insights based on his firsthand experience regarding various aspects of the event. He discussed the origins of the event and the driving forces behind the development of the International Conference of Neuroprotective Agents (ICNA). Additionally, Dr. Slikker shared his perspectives on the influence of neuroprotection strategies on mitigating neurotoxicity.
